Tavira's a long way from disco heaven, and the best thing to do is follow the local lead. Go out late, eat, and then stroll through the town, stopping off at any of the scores of tiny bars or classy pastelarias. The area around Praça Dr Padinha is fertile ground for late-night drinks and people-watching, while Santa Luzia bar in Rua Dr Cabreira has good music and excellent tapas-type snacks - and stays open until you leave. Clubbers should head for Ubi, at the start of Rua Almirante Candido dos Reis, on the eastern edge of town.
